The Origin of ONTHEBIAS.
Before there was ONTHEBIAS, there was just me, a sewing machine, countless fashion books, and the street. Selling my designs to fund a dream - this is how it began.
P.S. If you’ve ever dreamed beyond reason, I recommend reading the book Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes. The Woebegone Knight appears on the first garments I ever made - and in spirit, still does. A reminder that madness and vision are often the same thing, seen from different sides.

Built From the Basement Up.
The original studio from which ONTHEBIAS was born. No funding. No connections. Just craft, courage, and a dream stitched ONTHEBIAS.
To the daring, the dreamers, the designers -
There is a moment in every creative life when you feel it. That hunger to build something not just new - but entirely your own. That ache to express what no system was built to allow. That quiet, steady fire that says: I must do this differently.
ONTHEBIAS began there.
In garment construction, to cut “ONTHEBIAS” is to cut fabric at a 45° angle - diagonal to the grain. That cut releases potential: it lets the fabric drape, flow, and move with a kind of grace that rigid lines can’t contain.
That’s the way I wanted to move through this industry. Not straight. Not safe. But with intention - diagonally, differently, deliberately.
This platform was never meant to be a brand in the conventional sense. It’s a system. A structure. A foundation. One that gives the next generation of creatives the tools to create their own path, to express their truth, and to do so with confidence, clarity, and sovereignty.
I did not take the traditional route - I carved my own path.
For nearly a decade, I’ve navigated the fashion industry autodidactically - learning by doing, building, failing, and rising again, all on my own terms.
I built ONTHEBIAS from gumption, rejection, and relentless quixotic belief.
And I built it for you - for those who can’t help but create. For the ones who dream not only of designing garments, but of designing lives on their terms - and who dare to design their dreams. To help bring the dream of ONTHEBIAS to reality and to fund the dream, I sold clothes I made in my basement on the streets, motivated by the vision of OTB. I attended my college classes during the day, sold the clothes I had made on my off days, and spent countless hours in Adobe Illustrator crafting the initial library for ONTHEBIAS. Fueled by our obsession with this vision, ONTHEBIAS up to this point has been entirely bootstrapped.
Today, that original gumption and singular vision are augmented at ONTHEBIAS by an extraordinary team of deeply talented, fiercely dedicated fashion professionals - obsessed with quality, craftsmanship, and helping you bring your vision to life.
Everything you see here - from the design libraries to the factories, from the classes to the community - is meant to serve that mission.
We’re not here to decorate a broken system.
